Here is our 2023 Summer Reading line-up of events. Summer reading registration begins May 22nd. As soon as you register, you are able to sign-up for events. So don’t wait! Click each event for registration details.

How Many Honeycombs?

June 1  –  July 7, 2023 • During library hours

Guess how many honeycombs are in jar for a chance to win a $15 Gift Card for Yorkie’s Grille & Custard. Drawing for the winner will be on July 10, 2023

Petting Zoo on the Library Lawn

Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 10 – 11 AM • All ages

Presented by Zoo-2-Go, this event is free and open to the public. All ages will enjoy a variety of animals to see and pet.

 

Family Puzzle Tournament

Saturday, June 24 from 10:30 – 1:30 PM • All ages

Registration is required for this fun family event. Up to 12 teams will compete to win a $15 Gift Card to Yorkie’s Grille & Custard. The first team to finish the puzzle wins.

 

Elvis Live

Wednesday, July 12 at 6 PM • All ages

Community members are invited to a free music filled event. Presented by Jim Felix, an Elvis impersonator.

Wine Cork Birdhouse on a Stick

Monday, June 5 at 2 PM or 6 PM • Adults 19+

Registration is required for this event. Two sessions are available to create a cute decoration for your indoor or outdoor planters, using corks and a variety of materials.

 

Becoming Galactic Detectives

Wednesday, June 7 at 6 PM • Adults 19+

Presented by Ray Garner III, NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador. What do astronomers do exactly? Find out how “detective” Ray (soon-to-be Dr. Ray Garner) put the pieces together to figure out how the enigmatic Pinwheel Galaxy (M101) evolved.

 

Bee Themed Book Stack

Monday, June 12 at 2 PM or 6 PM • Adults 19+

Registration is required for this event. Two sessions are available to create a farmhouse wood “stack of books” with a bee theme.

All About Honeybees

Wednesday, June 14 at 6 PM • Adults and Teens Ages 12+

Presented by Sharon and William Riccio from the Ashtabula County Beekeepers Association. Learn about the bee life cycle, how they produce honey, basics of keeping bees, and the importance of honeybees.

 

Sunflower Butterfly Wall Hanging

Monday, June 19 at 2 PM or 6 PM • Adults 19+

Registration is required for this event. Two sessions are available to create a unique hangable piece of art featuring a sunflower turning into butterflies.

 

Adventure on the Water

Wednesday, June 21 at 6 PM • Adults and Teens Ages 12+

Presented by ODNR Naturalist, Cynthia Orth. The event features an introduction to paddle boarding and canoeing. Participants will be able to sign up for a free lesson on Pymatuning Reservoir at the event.

 

Make a Decorative Beehive

Monday, June 26 at 2 PM or 6 PM • Adults 19+

Registration is required for this event. Two sessions are available to create an adorable decorative beehive.

 

Learn to Relax

Wednesday, June 28 at 6 PM • Adults 19+

Presented by Tiffany McCarthy, LMT. Learn about a variety of relaxation techniques and ways to relieve stress, including breathing exercises, stretching, meditation, aroma therapy, and massage. Tiffany will offer information about massage professionals and muscle structure.

 

DIY Beeswax Candles

Monday, July 3 at 2 PM or 6 PM • Adults 19+

Registration is required for this event. Two sessions are available to make two beeswax candles.

 

The Underground Railroad

Wednesday, July 5  at 6 PM • Adults 19+

Presented by Paul Goebbel. Learn about the history of the Underground Railroad and how individuals in Northeast Ohio helped enslaved people to freedom.

 

Adult Party at the Stable Winery

Friday, July 14 from 6 – 8 PM • Adults 19+

This event requires registration no later than July 7, 2023. Food and non-alcoholic beverages are provided. Summer Reading prizes will be awarded. 

Adult Party Registration:

  • Opens Monday, June 26th.
  • You can reserve tickets for yourself, plus one. Either stop by the library to sign up or call 440-293-6792.
  • Tickets must be picked up at the library before Friday, July 14th at 4 PM.
  • The last day to register is Friday, July 7th.
