Using the NASA engineering design process, students in grades 6, 7 & 8 will design, build, and improve a stand-alone solar powered pumping system to move water as quickly as possible between 2 containers.  Students will use light-concentrating materials, shapes, and structures to maximize the collection of simulated solar energy. The energy will then be directed toward a solar cell that will power the system to move the water. Orientation will be held on Saturday, June 9th at 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Andover Public Library. Students will solve a real design problem, using science and hand-on experimentation, design and build a working transfer pump system. NASA scientists, local engineers and industrial mechanics will assist. Also you will be producing a video describing your process and system to be sent to NASA.  Please call the Andover Public Library to register at 440-293-6792.
